Meet the Team

Emily and Holly have combined their wealth of knowledge and experience to realise their ambition of bringing Primrose Day Care Farm to fruition, providing a safe, welcoming and supportive dementia friendly day care centre.

Emily Thornton

Founder

Emily qualified as a nurse in 2010. Over the last sixteen years her knowledge has grown around all aspects of patient care both in the community and a hospital setting. She currently works at South Tees NHS Trust which she finds hugely rewarding. Throughout her career Emily has gained a substantial wealth of knowledge and experience which includes supporting people living with dementia, working closely with their families, carers and other health care professionals to ensure each person is treated with respect and dignity and receives the care they need. Emily understands the therapeutic value of nature and the countryside. Having grown up spending lots of family time at her grandparents farm, Emily now as a farmers wife and mum of five children has a deep appreciation for rural life and the benefits it can bring.

Holly Bainbridge

Founder

Holly is the Director of Oxmoor Care Consultancy, a specialist consultancy providing trusted, professional support across the care sector. Through Oxmoor, Holly has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred advice grounded in compassion, integrity, and practical experience. This professional foundation underpins the vision and values of the Primrose Dementia Day Care Facility.

Coming from a strong farming background, Holly has a lifelong connection to the countryside and a deep understanding of rural life and land stewardship. This background has strongly influenced her belief that calm, natural environments and meaningful outdoor activity can play a powerful role in supporting wellbeing, particularly for people living with dementia.

Holly’s work through Oxmoor Care Consultancy reflects a commitment to care that is both people-focused and place-sensitive. She believes that care services should enhance quality of life while respecting the character and tranquillity of their surroundings. This philosophy is central to Primrose, where the rural setting is an integral part of the care experience rather than simply a backdrop.

By bringing together her professional expertise through Oxmoor Care Consultancy and her rural roots, Holly has helped shape Primrose as a welcoming, supportive day care facility that offers reassurance to families, meaningful engagement for those attending, and a positive contribution to the wider rural community.
