Meet Cathryn and Michael

Cathryn has worked as a Counsellor, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Trainer, for voluntary and statutory agencies as well as self-employed, predominantly helping people recover from trauma experienced due to childhood and domestic abuse, supporting families in building relationships and grief work. Over the past 5 years she has volunteered in her local community supporting people affected by dementia and as a telephone befriender for the Royal Voluntary Service. Her most recent role as a Chaplaincy volunteer within a Methodist Care Home which provides dementia care, inspired Cathryn to fulfil her calling in spiritual and pastoral care. Spending time in nature is where she feels most at home. Supporting others to connect in this way and feel the freedom to be themselves in a safe space, is the essence of her work.

Michael has 40 years of experience as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, working within GP practices in the North-West of England for almost 25 years, providing compassionate person-centered care. In addition, he has been a successful researcher and developer of digital health products for 28 years.  Since marrying Cathryn and moving to North Yorkshire in 2017, he has worked with clients over zoom, provided consultancy to other hypnotherapists and continues to produce a range of new digital health products. To maintain a healthy work / life balance away from his desk, Michael likes being out on the moors with Cathryn and enjoys nature photography. He connects with people using humour and encourages them to have a sense of wonder about the world.

Cathryn and Michael met while training as Hypnotherapists, went their separate ways but along similar paths, until being reunited in 2010. They have both recognised a calling to be of service to people suffering from long-term life-limiting conditions. Their combined knowledge, wisdom and skills gained over the years brings an added dimension. They work closely with Primrose Care Farm staff, supporting companions and their families, and work alongside local agencies to provide wellbeing support within the community for people affected by dementia. They aim to offer a range of talks, support groups, and restorative retreats for unpaid carers, as well as meeting the emotional and spiritual well-being needs of older people in our rural communities.
